The course is part of the “Language and Culture” master degree program offered by the department of English Letters and Languages, Faculty of Letters and Languages, University 8 Mai 1945 –Guelma (Algeria). The module is taught during the 1st semester, one hour and a half (1h30) per week, in the frame of the “Discovery Unit”.
The course ambitions to offer a general overview of Algerian literature, with a special focus on the novel, from its beginnings to the present time. It follows, to a large extent, a chronological order, covering the major phases that marked the literary scene. Each section starts with a brief introduction of the general context then moves to talk about the authors and their works. A focus on a selected-representative work or writer is provided at the end of each part.
