This course aims at introducing students to the discipline of psycholinguistics. It deals with the mental processes which underlie the system we call language. Mainly, language perception, comprehension, production and acquisition; with an emphasis on first language acquisition, how infants acquire their first language; what stages they go through in developing language subsystems ( phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics...); and the different theories related to first language acquisition.
