The course in crystallography is intended for second-year STU (Earth and Universe Sciences) students (3rd semester, LMD system). It consists of two chapters:
Chapter 1: Geometric Crystallography, which includes a general study of the crystalline state:
- The geometric states of matter.
- The fundamental laws of crystallization.
- Geometric study of point lattices.
- The 7 crystal systems and the 14 Bravais lattices.
- Orientation symmetry and the 32 symmetry classes.
- Examples of crystal structures.
Chapter 2: Geometric Optics.
- Review of optics.
- Light propagation in crystalline media.
- Refractive index.
- Birefringence.
- Indicatrices.
- Teacher: ALI BAKHTATOU
