The crystallography course is designed for second-year STU (Earth and Universe Sciences) students in the third semester of the LMD system. It is divided into two chapters:
Chapter 1: Geometric Crystallography
This chapter provides a comprehensive study of the crystalline state and covers the following topics:
- The geometric states of matter
- The fundamental laws of crystallization
- Geometric analysis of point lattices
- The seven crystal systems and the 14 Bravais lattices
- Orientation symmetry and the 32 symmetry classes
- Examples of crystal structures
- Other vector properties of crystals
Chapter 2: Geometric Optics
This chapter explores the optical properties of crystalline media and includes:
- A review of optics
- Light propagation in crystalline media
- Refractive index
- Birefringence
- Indicatrices
- Enseignant: ALI BAKHTATOU
