The crystallography course is designed for second-year STU (Earth and Universe Sciences) students in the third semester of the LMD system. It is divided into two chapters:

Chapter 1: Geometric Crystallography
This chapter provides a comprehensive study of the crystalline state and covers the following topics:

  • The geometric states of matter
  • The fundamental laws of crystallization
  • Geometric analysis of point lattices
  • The seven crystal systems and the 14 Bravais lattices
  • Orientation symmetry and the 32 symmetry classes
  • Examples of crystal structures
  • Other vector properties of crystals

Chapter 2: Geometric Optics
This chapter explores the optical properties of crystalline media and includes:

  • A review of optics
  • Light propagation in crystalline media
  • Refractive index
  • Birefringence
  • Indicatrices
