This course aims at introducing students to British literature written after the Second World War. At that period, writers gave up traditional literary conventions in preference of more unorthodox techniques and subject matters. Important names such as Samuel Beckett, William Golding, Doris Lessing, Angela Carter and many others introduced new techniques and subject matters that are generally classified as postmodern reflecting a broad cultural phenomenon known as postmodernism.
