Course
purpose and content: Introduce the study of translation through presenting the different
aspects related to the discipline. Those aspects include the emergence of
translation as an independent discipline; A historical overview of translation;
Translation schools before and after 20th century. The aim is to
develop in the students the ability to look at translation as a discipline
directly related to the study of languages.
In this semester in particular, translation will be approached through text types.and thus will be more practical.
Students will identify the translation problems related to the different text types: literary, religious, scientific, economic....etc.
Students are also expected to improve and enrich their English language through the discovery of new terms and new concepts.
