Course Descriptions:

The module of Didactics aims at introducing the learners to the domain of language teaching and its role in relation to the process of teaching and learning languages.

Course Objectives:

  • To cope with the historical teaching methods, their tenets and how to be an Eclectic teacher.
  • To determine the notions’ concepts as Communication, Interaction, Communicative Competence and communication strategies.
  • To give the opportunity to EFL learners to tackle lessons, to plan skills and the sub-skills and how to teach them from observable perspectives.
  • To invite the students to make a distinction between “ a Curriculum and a Syllabus”,

Learning Outcomes:

  • Introducing the field “Didactics”, its meaning, its area of study.
  • Introducing the notions “Approach, Method, Techniques” and their philosophies.
  •  Dealing with the different Teaching Methods in EFL Classrooms.
  • Defining the concepts “Communication- Communicative Competence- Interaction”.
  • Familiarizing the learners with the different EFL teacher’s role and how to assess the enrolled learners.
  • Coping with learning theories and contributions to facilitate learning.
  • Socializing the EFL learners with both processes “Teaching/Learning” and showing them with practical, observable situations how to manage classrooms.

Grading Policy:

  • The module is presented in the form of lectures (cour magistrale) hence 100% of the module is dependent on the students' performance in the exam.

NB: Though online/real-life participation is not grade, it would still have a crucial effect on their understanding of the course handouts since everything will be explained in details which provides them with the chance to ask questions and take notes.
