Course Description:
This course offers an overview of the historical, social, and cultural development of Britain and America from their formative periods to early modern times. The first part traces the evolution of British civilization from the prehistoric settlers through the Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, and Normans, up to the rise of the Tudor dynasty.

The second part focuses on the foundations of American civilization, beginning with European exploration and the discovery of the New World, followed by the establishment of colonies, relations with Indigenous peoples, and the emergence of slavery as a central institution in early America.

Learning Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to:
