The course aims at providing students with an intensive introduction to American literature from the colonial period to Naturalism and to stimulate them to make connections between and among texts. Students will become acquainted with different trends, techniques, terms, and writers; learn strategies for reading and understanding the movements of American literature, and develop critical skills for discussing and analysing literary texts.
