AMERICAN LITERATURE

This is an introductory course to American literature. It examines selected works of American literature from the period of exploration and settlement to the turn of the twentieth century. Students will be exposed to selected works of prose, poetry, and fiction within their respective historical and cultural contexts. The course seeks to shed light on the evolution of the American experience and character through the readings.
