    • The course deals with the debate that pivots around the writers' choice of language in African literature. It sheds light on the reasons that lead African writers to use or refuse  european languages and it also examines the position and the importance of native African languages in African literature today. 

    • This is the second part of the issue of language in African literature, in this part, students can see how African writers use European languages to defy colonialism and imperialism. More arguments are presented to defend the use of European languages. Students are also introduced to different techniques African writers employ to Africanize English language. The course ends with a presentation of some arguments that encourage African writers to use their native languages in their literary creation.
