The course introduces students to the field of literary criticism. It will provide students with the basic tools used for the study of literary texts that are described as literary theory. Certain theories, such as psychoanalysis, feminism, and postcolonialism will be studied in detail to acquaint students with the basic framework of literary theories.

The course will enable students to learn writing strategies used in non-academic fields that can also show their English Language writing skills. They will learn how to write ads, reports, and short stories and through these subjects they will learn how to express themselves, their interests, relate their personal experiences and explore and express their imagination.

This course provides an overview of American history, culture, politics, and contemporary society. It traces major developments and changes from the establishment of the nation to modern era. It will introduce you to key themes and concepts within American history and society.

This course familiarizes first year students with major literary terms, literary genres, and literary movements.

Study skills is designed to teach students some strategies to enhance their listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiencies.
