The objective of this course is to introduce students to wide-area networks and associated technologies. Students will also learn about dynamic routing, the concept of Quality of Service (QoS) in networks, and mobile networks. The course places particular emphasis on the transport and network layers, as well as selected application-layer protocols, notably DNS.

The course aims to provide students with the understanding and practical application of numerical analysis methods. It emphasizes the comprehension of mathematical theorems, numerical methods, and algorithms used to model problems currently encountered in various fields. Upon completion of the course, students should be able to design and model scientific problems and implement complex methods based on fundamental operations.

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts of information security, providing a comprehensive overview of the core principles and challenges in the field. Students will learn to identify and analyze various threats and attack vectors targeting modern networks and systems. The curriculum covers the essential techniques of cryptography and their practical applications, including securing web communications via SSL and protecting email systems with PGP. Furthermore, the module explores defensive strategies, focusing on the deployment of firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to ensure the integrity and resilience of hosts and network infrastructures.
