The main objectives of this course are: to
introduce the concept of surface tension as a key parameter in interfacial
interactions. To describe the phenomenon of gas adsorption on solid surfaces
through thermodynamic principles. To understand reaction mechanisms in
heterogeneous kinetics and introduce heterogeneous catalysis. Application of
these concepts to the determination of the surface area and pore volume of
solids.
