This course "Course Design/ Testing and Assessment", develops students' knowledge and skills in planning lessons, designing syllabuses, and developing curricular. It exposes them to the differences between syllabus design and curriculum development as well as the main steps of designing an appropriate syllabus that corresponds to students’ needs, the goals and objectives of the course, and the contextual factors in a particular teaching and learning situation.
The course focuses on practical examples and tasks more than theoretical frameworks. Accordingly, students will be able to act as course designers who write Course goals and objectives, plan lessons from Algerian EFL textbooks, choose tasks and actvities, select appropriate teaching materials and media, analyze Algerian EFL textbooks, and design teaching units for TEFL for different levels.
These skills prepare M1 students for the teacher training phase in M2 and strengthen their future teaching skills and practices.
