The course reading and writing puts focus on developing students’ reading and writing skills. As foreign language learners are expected to be engaged in readings of different forms (academic articles, reports, dissertations, books, or stories), they need to show an ability in terms of analysing different texts. As for writing, the production of writings of various types (writing emails, CVs, letters, reports and writing creatively) is of a great importance at this level.
This course aims at exploring both skills. On the one hand, the course develops students’ abilities to read critically and analyse texts of different types. On the other hand, it also examines the development of different forms of writing, helping students produce various writings.
The course has a practical nature. Though a theoretical aspect is presented to students, most of the class work draws on practice. In this sense, the course content is presented through a series of workshops where various tasks are completed individually, in pairs, or groups.
