The applied linguistics course sheds light on the application of theoretical studies about language in the field of language teaching. It helps third-year students of English distinguish between the various definitions of the term ‘applied linguistics’ and its scope. Furthermore, the students will be able to demonstrate the relationship between theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics, and language teaching. Learners will also be able to outline the main principles of theories about second/foreign language learning, and their practical implications/and applications in the field of teaching English as a foreign language.
